# ImportYeti Alternatives: 6 Trade Data Tools Compared for Exporters and AI Agents

*Source: https://eximagent.ai/blog/importyeti-alternatives · Published: October 10, 2026 · Category: Technology*

> ImportYeti alternatives compared: ImportGenius, Panjiva, Volza, Trademo, Datamyne and EximAgent on coverage, MCP access and where each wins.

The main ImportYeti alternatives are ImportGenius, Panjiva, Volza, Trademo, Descartes Datamyne and EximAgent. Pick ImportGenius or Panjiva for deep US bill of lading history, Volza or Datamyne for the widest country list, Trademo for an enterprise platform with an AI layer, and EximAgent if you want an AI sales team for export-import inside Claude, Codex or Cursor. If you only need free US sea-import lookups, ImportYeti itself is still a strong choice.

This guide compares each ImportYeti alternative on data coverage, pricing model, AI agent access and compliance checks. By the end you will know which tool fits your job and budget.

## Why look for an ImportYeti alternative?

ImportYeti is popular for a reason. Its free plan lets you search US import records from bills of lading (the shipping document that lists shipper, consignee and cargo). Its paid Logistics plan adds US exports, US customs, air and land data, and Mexico imports and exports ([ImportYeti pricing](https://www.importyeti.com/pricing/logistics), checked 2026-10-10). It also sells an API for US and Mexico data ([ImportYeti API docs](https://docs.importyeti.com/docs/getting-started)).

Teams usually look elsewhere for one of four reasons:

1. **Coverage.** ImportYeti's own pricing table lists US and Mexico customs data, offers "mirrored" global data, and marks "True Global Coverage" as "Impossible". If your buyers sit in Europe, Latin America or Asia, you need another source.
2. **Analysis, not just lookups.** Finding one importer is easy. Sizing a market, reading price direction or spotting buyer concentration takes more work.
3. **Compliance in the same flow.** Before you quote, you also need the HS code (the Harmonized System product code customs uses), the duty, and an OFAC sanctions check.
4. **AI agents.** More research now starts inside Claude, Codex or Cursor. That needs an MCP server or a CLI, not a browser tab.

## How we compared the tools

We compared the tools using each vendor's official product, pricing and documentation pages, and EximAgent's own documentation for the EximAgent section. We scored each tool on five questions. Use them as your own checklist.

- **Data layer:** shipment-level records (company names on each shipment) or country-level statistics?
- **Coverage:** which countries, and since when? Vendors count differently, so read the footnotes.
- **Pricing model:** free plan, trial, self-serve monthly, or sales-led annual contract?
- **AI agent access:** is there an MCP server, API or CLI an agent can call?
- **Compliance:** HS codes, tariffs and sanctions screening in the same tool, or separate?

We did not test data accuracy across tools. No vendor publishes a neutral benchmark, so we don't rank them on it. Coverage figures are each vendor's own claims, not our measurements. We build EximAgent, so we tested it hands-on (CLI v0.1.754 and the web app, Oct 10, 2026, on an internal account without plan limits; results on the Free plan may differ) and linked every competitor claim to its source. We did not run the other tools.

"Not verified" means we could not confirm it on the vendor's official pages on 2026-10-10. It does not mean the feature is missing.

ImportYeti alternatives at a glance (vendor claims, checked 2026-10-10)

## 1. ImportGenius: best for deep US bill of lading history

ImportGenius searches US Customs maritime import and export records at bill of lading level. Its USA Pro plan covers US import data from 2006 to the present, and US export data from January 2014. The entry USA Essentials plan covers only the most recent 12 months of imports ([ImportGenius pricing](https://www.importgenius.com/pricing), checked 2026-10-10).

Self-serve plans (Essentials Flex and Pro Flex) are available; for current prices, see [their pricing page](https://www.importgenius.com/pricing). Search and download limits apply per plan. The pricing FAQ says there are no free trials. Enterprise plans add 25+ countries, unlimited searches and "enterprise-grade data delivery via API". Pro includes an AI company profiler and HS code search on US import data.

**Where it beats ImportYeti:** longer US history and more countries on higher plans.
**Where it falls short:** no free tier, and global data sits behind sales-led plans.

## 2. Panjiva (S&P Global): best for enterprise research teams

Panjiva is S&P Global Market Intelligence's supply chain platform. It says it covers 2 billion transaction records, 22 source countries and 9 million company profiles in 190+ countries. Records include bill of lading fields, HS/HTS codes, ports and corporate family links ([Panjiva](https://www.spglobal.com/market-intelligence/en/solutions/products/panjiva-supply-chain-intelligence), checked 2026-10-10).

Its strength is the link to S&P company and financial data. Analysts and universities use it for tariff-impact and supply-chain studies. Pricing is not published.

**Where it beats ImportYeti:** multi-country data and corporate hierarchy.
**Where it falls short:** built for enterprise budgets and analysts, not a small exporter's first search. We found no official Panjiva MCP server.

## 3. Volza: best for wide country coverage on a budget

Volza says it covers 200+ countries. Its pricing page splits that into detailed databases, "mirror" databases (one country's data rebuilt from its partners' records) and statistical databases ([Volza pricing](https://www.volza.com/pricing/), checked 2026-10-10). Data runs from 2014 onward on paid plans. It offers a free trial with no credit card, plus paid plans with download credits and some contact data.

**Where it beats ImportYeti:** far more countries, dashboards for buyer and supplier analysis.
**Where it falls short:** "200 countries" mixes several data types, so check whether your target market is detailed or mirror data. Some countries are "premium" and excluded from lower plans.

## 4. Trademo Intel: best enterprise platform with an AI layer

Trademo Intel says it has 3B+ shipment records across 10M+ companies and 190+ countries ([Trademo Intel](https://www.trademo.com/intel), checked 2026-10-10). Its AI assistant, Hermes, finds shippers and buyers, summarizes trade activity and drafts outreach. Trademo also launched a Hermes MCP connector for Claude ([Trademo blog](https://www.trademo.com/blog/introducing-trademo-hermes-mcp-now-live-in-claude)) and sells a shipments API.

**Where it beats ImportYeti:** global data, AI prospecting, compliance lists and an MCP connector.
**Where it falls short:** pricing is sales-led and the platform is aimed at enterprise revenue and logistics teams.

This is the closest product to EximAgent. The fair difference: Trademo is a full platform with its own workspace and a bigger dataset. EximAgent is designed to run inside the AI assistant or terminal you already use, with a free plan to start.

## 5. Descartes Datamyne: best for Latin America

Datamyne says its database covers more than 230 markets, with Latin American coverage across 17 countries ([Datamyne countries](https://www.datamyne.com/countries-covered-global-trade-data/), checked 2026-10-10). US shipment data comes from CBP's Automated Manifest System and is updated daily; international data arrives one to two months after customs records it.

**Where it beats ImportYeti:** Latin American depth, company contacts and landed-cost style comparisons.
**Where it falls short:** sales-led pricing; we found no public MCP server.

## 6. EximAgent: best if you want an AI sales team inside your agent

EximAgent is an "AI sales team for export-import: outbound prospecting, trade data analysis, HS codes, tariffs, OFAC." It works in three areas:

- **Outbound:** find and research buyers, importers and distributors from customs shipment records, build a company profile from its website and draft personalized outreach. Nothing is sent until you confirm.
- **Analyst:** market demand, buyer concentration, price direction and company profiles with shipment history.
- **Compliance:** HS code suggestions, tariff and duty lookups by trade lane, and OFAC SDN screening (advisory, not a legal determination). You can also browse the [EximAgent HS code lookup](https://eximagent.ai/hscode).

The EximAgent web app home screen (Oct 10, 2026)

There are three ways in: web app, CLI, MCP connector. In the [EximAgent web app](https://chat.eximagent.ai/?utm_source=blog&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=importyeti-alternatives) you chat with the same agent in your browser, with nothing to install. The CLI and the MCP connector use the same data, and the [trade data CLI and MCP connector](https://eximagent.ai/cli) page covers both. Install the CLI:

```bash
curl -fsSL https://cli.eximagent.ai/install | sh    # macOS (Apple silicon) / Linux
irm https://cli.eximagent.ai/install.ps1 | iex      # Windows PowerShell
eximagent login                                     # free: approve in your browser
```

EximAgent CLI install and sign-in (real run, Oct 10, 2026; account redacted)

Three ways in: web app, CLI or MCP connector

Or add the hosted MCP connector `https://mcp.eximagent.ai/mcp` to your assistant. It uses OAuth with Google sign-in, so there is no API key to paste. See [add the EximAgent MCP connector](https://eximagent.ai/docs/integrations/mcp). From the CLI, `eximagent connect claude-code`, `eximagent connect codex` or `eximagent connect cursor` writes the config for you ([agent setup docs](https://eximagent.ai/docs/integrations/agents)).

A typical first run for green coffee (HS 090111) into the US:

```bash
eximagent shipments market-signals --hs6 090111 --dest US    # uses credits: demand, buyers, top-5 share, price direction
eximagent --dry-run search run --product "green coffee" --location US --hsCode 090111   # free preview: criteria, runtime, previewToken
```

Here's real output from EximAgent CLI v0.1.754 (run on Oct 10, 2026), condensed from the JSON response for readability:

```text
$ eximagent shipments market-signals --hs6 090111 --dest US
market 090111: 52061 shipments, 778 buyers, top5 buyer share 43%
  period              2022-12-01 to 2026-08-01 (records to 2026-08-10)
  uniqueBuyers        778       uniqueSellers   558
  totalWeightKg       1944374404
  totalValueUsd       10159811921   (declaring rows only)
  medianPricePerKg    5.37          avgPricePerKg   6.51
  buyerConcentration  moderately concentrated
  priceDirection      falling   (m/m price per kg -8.2%)
  volume m/m          -98.9%    (partial month: records to 2026-08-10)
  coverage            partial, confidence 0.86
```

In plain terms: from December 2022 to August 2026 there were 52,061 shipments of green coffee (HS 090111) into the US, from 558 sellers to 778 buyers. The top five buyers took 43% of the market, which the CLI calls moderately concentrated. That is about 1.94 billion kg, and $10.16 billion of declared value (value only counts the rows that declare it). The median price was $5.37/kg and the average $6.51/kg, with price per kg down 8.2% month over month. The output also shows volume down 98.9% month over month, but the latest month only has records to August 10, so read that as a partial month, not a collapse. The CLI marks this coverage as partial (confidence 0.86).

US green coffee market signals for HS 090111 (real output, CLI v0.1.754, Oct 10, 2026)

The dry run and the confirmed search, with the same inputs:

```text
$ eximagent --dry-run search run --product "green coffee" --location US --hsCode 090111
Ready to search for active buyers of green coffee in us, under HS 090111.
Nothing runs until this is confirmed.   expectedRuntime ~2-4 min   previewToken pt_…
next: search run ... --confirmed --previewToken pt_…   (cost: high)
$ eximagent search run --product "green coffee" --location US --hsCode 090111 --confirmed --previewToken pt_…
Discovery run run_… started for 'green coffee'. Progress is reported as it runs.
$ eximagent stream --run-id run_…
searching for candidate companies ... reviewing a candidate company ...
complete: 78 candidates from 434 results
$ eximagent run summary --runId run_…
Finished, 78 companies, 93s   priority: high 0, medium 0, low 78
```

The dry run spent nothing: it returned the criteria, an expected runtime of 2 to 4 minutes and a previewToken, and labelled the real launch as high cost. Repeating the same arguments with --confirmed --previewToken started the search, which uses credits. It finished in 93 seconds with 78 candidate companies (from 434 results) saved to a collection. All 78 were ranked low priority, and the list included some companies outside the US, so review the shortlist before you enrich anyone.

The web app runs the same kind of lookup from a chat. Asked "Find US importers of green coffee (HS 090111)", it worked for 16 seconds and returned a ranked list of US importers with shipment counts and weights (our run, Oct 10, 2026).

The web app finding US green coffee importers (Oct 10, 2026)

**Where it beats ImportYeti:** works inside Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and Claude desktop/web; combines buyer research with HS, tariff and OFAC checks; every shipment answer carries a [coverage note](https://eximagent.ai/docs/concepts/coverage).
**Where it falls short:** it is a younger product with fewer reviews; there is no Intel Mac CLI build; and if you just want to click through US importers in a browser for free, ImportYeti or our [US companies directory](https://eximagent.ai/companies) is simpler.

## Which ImportYeti alternative should you choose?

- **You want free US lookups in a browser:** stay on ImportYeti.
- **You need US history back to 2006:** ImportGenius.
- **You sell to many countries on an SME budget:** Volza, after checking that your markets are "detailed" data.
- **You are an enterprise team with analysts:** Panjiva or Trademo.
- **Latin America is your focus:** Datamyne.
- You want an AI sales team inside Claude, Codex or Cursor to find buyers and check tariffs → EximAgent

Choosing an ImportYeti alternative by job

## Where other tools are stronger than EximAgent

- **Longer US history:** ImportGenius Pro covers US imports from 2006 to the present ([ImportGenius pricing](https://www.importgenius.com/pricing)).
- **Bigger datasets and full platforms:** Trademo reports 3B+ shipment records and offers its own workspace ([Trademo Intel](https://www.trademo.com/intel)); Panjiva links trade data to S&P company data ([Panjiva](https://www.spglobal.com/market-intelligence/en/solutions/products/panjiva-supply-chain-intelligence)).
- **Longer country lists:** Datamyne claims 230+ markets and Volza 200+ countries ([Datamyne countries](https://www.datamyne.com/countries-covered-global-trade-data/), [Volza pricing](https://www.volza.com/pricing/)).
- **Free browser lookups:** ImportYeti's free plan covers US import searches without an AI assistant ([ImportYeti pricing](https://www.importyeti.com/pricing/logistics)).

## When to choose EximAgent

Choose EximAgent when your team wants answers, not another dashboard. You ask in plain words, and your agent pulls demand, buyers, HS code candidates, duty and sanctions checks from one account. Analyst's findings can give Outbound its starting context, and you review before anything goes out.

It also suits developers. If you are comparing connectors rather than platforms, read [trade data MCP servers compared](https://eximagent.ai/blog/trade-data-mcp-servers-compared). For broader prospecting tools, see [Apollo.io alternatives for exporters](https://eximagent.ai/blog/apollo-io-alternatives-for-exporters), and for US market data browse [EximAgent trade data](https://eximagent.ai/trade-data).

Don't choose EximAgent if you need a large analyst team's platform with years of multi-country history today, or a pure browser tool. Panjiva, Trademo or ImportGenius fit that better.

## FAQ

### What is the best free alternative to ImportYeti?

For US sea-import lookups, ImportYeti's free plan is a strong starting point. Volza offers a free trial, and EximAgent has a free plan with no card. ImportGenius says it does not offer free trials.

### Which ImportYeti alternative covers the most countries?

By their own figures, Datamyne claims 230+ markets, Volza 200+ countries and Trademo 190+ countries. Shipment-level detail covers fewer countries than those headline numbers, so check your exact market.

### Can I use ImportYeti-style data inside Claude or another AI agent?

Yes. Trademo offers an MCP connector for Claude, ImportYeti sells an API, and EximAgent offers a CLI plus a hosted MCP connector at `https://mcp.eximagent.ai/mcp` with Google sign-in.

### What is the difference between EximAgent and Trademo or ImportYeti?

ImportYeti is a search site built on US and Mexico customs records. Trademo is an enterprise trade intelligence platform. EximAgent is an AI sales team for export-import that runs in your AI assistant and combines buyer research, trade data analysis, HS codes, tariffs and OFAC screening.

### Can I use EximAgent without the CLI or an MCP setup?

Yes. Open the [EximAgent web app](https://chat.eximagent.ai/?utm_source=blog&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=importyeti-alternatives) and chat with the same agent in your browser. The CLI and the MCP connector are for working inside your terminal or an AI assistant such as Claude, Codex or Cursor.
