## Use HS 0901 as a research filter HS code 0901 covers coffee products in the coffee branch, but a code is only a starting filter. It does not prove that a company is buying today, that every record is current, or that an importer is a good fit for your product. A useful workflow combines the product form, destination market, date range, shipment coverage and company evidence. It then turns the result into a reviewable prospect brief instead of an unverified buyer list. ## 1. Define the product and market Start with the coffee form you actually sell: green coffee, roasted coffee, decaffeinated coffee or another product that may need a separate classification review. Choose the destination country, origin corridor and a date range that matches the sales question. Do not use 0901 as a shortcut for instant coffee. Extracts, concentrates and preparations may be analyzed under heading 2101, depending on ingredients and processing. ## 2. Select the relevant HS level Use the international HS6 structure to define the search branch, then verify the destination country's national extension. For coffee that remains in 0901, the product form and decaffeination status are important. Record the exact code used in the query and why it matches the product. If the code is uncertain, pause the prospecting workflow and resolve the classification question first. A broad or incorrect code can create noisy results and mislead the sales team. ## 3. Query records with date and country limits In a trade-data workflow, record the query date, HS code, origin, destination and filters used. Keep the search scope visible so another person can reproduce it. Review whether the source covers importers, consignees, notify parties or another role before treating a company as a buyer. Coverage is a data property, not a guarantee of current purchase intent. A historical shipment can identify a company worth researching, but it does not prove that the company is still sourcing the same product. ## 4. Read the parties and shipment coverage For each candidate, capture the company name, country, product description, date range and evidence available in the source. Look for repeated records or a meaningful pattern rather than relying on one isolated line. Normalize names carefully. A group, branch, distributor and customs entity may appear as separate names or as one collapsed name. Keep the original record and the normalized entity together so the review can be audited. ## 5. Review company fit before outreach Use company research to check the website, product range, market coverage, contact role and evidence that the company is relevant to your offer. Separate a verified fact from a hypothesis. Do not invent decision-maker names, email addresses, shipment values or current demand. A practical prospect brief should answer: why this company matches the product, which evidence supports the match, what is still unknown, and what question should the first outreach resolve? ## 6. Save the next action Store the source link or query reference, the review date, the HS branch, the market and the next question. Then route qualified prospects to a buyer-research workflow for enrichment and outreach. [Review coffee HS code branches](https://eximagent.ai/hscode/09/090111) ## A reproducible coffee importer checklist - define the product form and destination market; - record the HS code and query date; - keep country, date and coverage filters visible; - preserve the source record for each candidate; - normalize names without deleting the original; - verify company fit separately from shipment history; - mark unknowns instead of filling them with guesses; - write the next outreach question. The keyword “coffee importers” has commercial research intent, but this article is a how-to workflow rather than a directory. Use the evidence to narrow research, then qualify the company before making a sales claim. Source boundary: WCO heading 0901 and the EximAgent research workflow provide the structure. This page does not publish a buyer list, contact data, shipment screenshot or claim of current purchase intent.
