Port codes FAQ

What is a port code?

A port code identifies a port in shipping and customs documents. The most widely used is the UN/LOCODE: five characters, a two-letter country code plus three letters for the place, such as CNYTN for Yantian or USLAX for Los Angeles.

What is the difference between a UN/LOCODE and a CBP Schedule D code?

A UN/LOCODE is the international code for a location. CBP Schedule D is a four-digit US Customs code for a US port of entry, used on US import filings: Los Angeles is USLAX as a UN/LOCODE and 2704 in Schedule D.

What is a CBP Schedule K code?

Schedule K is the US Customs list of foreign ports, with five-digit codes. US import bills record the foreign port of lading with it: Yantian, China is 57078.

How do I find a port code?

Search above by port name, UN/LOCODE or customs code. Each port page lists every code we hold for that port, with the source.

Which US port has the most import bills of lading?

Port of Los Angeles (Schedule D 2704) with 304,942 bills of lading in Aug 2025–Jul 2026, then Port of New York / Newark (263,804) and Port of Long Beach (257,346), in the US customs records EximAgent holds.
